We need your help to Spring Clean Carmarthenshire.

We are launching our annual campaign to make our county cleaner and safer – but we can’t do it alone.

Fly-tipping blackspots, litter strewn streets, parks, beaches and playing fields will all be targeted in the spring clean.

Residents are being urged to help us catch offenders by reporting incidents as well as problem areas so that they can be targeted by environmental enforcement officers.

Anyone caught dropping litter, or not cleaning up after their dog, can be fined £75 or more if prosecuted in court.

We are also encouraging schools and community groups to make a difference to where they live and

organise a litter-pick.

Clean-up kits including bags, litter pickers and gloves will be provided.

Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “We live in one of the cleanest counties in Wales, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do better.

“I know from speaking to residents when I am out and about that litter, and in particular dog fouling, is a huge concern and this is why it is a priority for the council as well.

“Officers have increased patrols throughout the county which has resulted in more fines; and with

information from the public, we will continue to target hotspot areas and hopefully catch more offenders in the act.”

The council works in partnership with Keep Wales Tidy and Tidy Towns.
