Russell George MS – the Shadow Minister for Economy, Business, and Infrastructure – has welcomed the recent launch of Manufacturing Wales, an new industry group, which has the aim of “… championing and future-proofing manufacturing across Wales”.
Members include Penderyn Distillery, RotoTherm, Creo Medical, and several others.
Mr George, who is also the Welsh Conservative spokesperson on research, development, and innovation – said:
“This is great news for the tech and manufacturing sector in Wales, one of the most dynamic and growing industries we have, and it’s encouraging to see these diverse but like-minded companies banding together to bring their ideas, innovations, best practices, entrepreneurial and pioneering
spirit to Wales.
“As we continue through the Coronavirus pandemic, Wales’s tech and manufacturing sector – be it defence, aeronautical, automotive, or others – is more vital than ever.
“From Aston Martin and General Dynamics in the south, and Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) Cymru in the north, Wales has a host of businesses incubating high-value technology and supporting STEM subjects and students.
“And there is Riversimple’s ‘Rasa’ – a potentially game-changing hydrogen fuel-cell car – being designed in Mid Wales.
“Welsh Conservatives believe in investment in education, infrastructure, and technology, to create a high-wage-high-skill, and back industry moves to take Wales forward.”
