The Hub, in Llanelli Town Centre was born out of the UnSir Gar/One Carmarthenshire web and phone service delivered by Carmarthenshire County Council with support from JCP and Careers Wales staff. It offers a one-stop shop service for employment, training, education and volunteering opportunities for clients and employers.
Sonia Pearce called into The Hub for self-employment advice, and after working with Un Sir Gar, Remploy, A4E Enterprise and Jobcentre Plus is now successfully self-employed making and selling crafts. She said:
“I’d been everywhere but got nowhere with my plans to go self-employed.”
“I went into The Hub expecting the same ‘here’s a phone number, go here, go there’ but it was completely different.”
“The Hub is like the head of an octopus, with so many organisations as the legs. I saw Remploy, A4E and a Jobcentre Adviser all in one place, and The Hub sorted that out for me. I would recommend them to people just looking for information – they won’t just pass you along.”
Come along to The Hub, 36 Stepney Street, Llanelli on Friday 27th March from 10am to 2pm to support Sonia and pick up an Easter bargain or original gift. Orders can also be taken on-line at twistypixcrafts@outlook.com, and gifts available are on Facebook under Twistypix Crafts.
There will also be self-employment advice from local organisations. In this time of austerity, cheer yourself up with something handmade and affordable, come to The Hub and help Sonia celebrate her success by supporting a new local business.
