Almost 600 local small firms have been helped to access the Government’s Furlough Scheme by local accountants, Ashmole & Co, resulting in 2,700 jobs being saved from redundancy.
Claims made by Ashmole & Co to the Furlough Scheme, up to the end of October, resulted in £6.9million paid out to the 595 local companies who had to close or reduce their staff numbers due to the Covid19 pandemic.
Ian Badham, Partner with Ashmole & Co, said, “It has been an especially difficult time for so many employers having to furlough staff as a result of the pandemic. We are proud to be able to help them safely through the minefield of applying for support to ensure those employees still have jobs to come back to and get paid. Since the Covid19 pandemic struck Ashmole & Co’s Payroll team have been extremely busy working hard for clients to make sure they are getting all the government support they are entitled to via the Furlough Scheme.”
The Furlough Scheme was set to end on 31October but the Chancellor has extended it so it will now continue, in a changed form, until at least 31 March 2021. The level of the grant that can be claimed has now reverted to that available in August 2020. That is for the hours that are not worked, an employer can now claim for 80% of wages up to a cap of £2,500 per month. Employers must pay national insurance and pension contributions for these hours.
Ashmole & Co’s dedicated payroll team allows companies to be relieved of the burden of administering their payroll and during the Covid19 pandemic has meant applying for government support to retain those staff on the payroll. Clients can concentrate on the core activities of their business. Payroll registration, advice, compliance, investigations, bureau service and CIS contracts are all part of the service Ashmole & Co can provide.
Four years ago Ashmole & Co, which covers south and west Wales, had just one payroll clerk and now they are a strong team of nine. Day to day the Payroll team are the hidden heroes for local clients as they administer their pay systems.
Ashmole & Co Chartered and Certified Accountants have been established since 1897 and are one of the largest accountancies and auditing practices in Wales, operating from 13 offices throughout south and west Wales including Llandovery, Ammanford, Swansea, Neath, Carmarthen, Haverfordwest and Tenby.
