The General Election and … a Local Intern
For this voter profile we asked a local man who is currently undertaking an internship to outline his general election 2015 voting intentions.
We learned that “Mr D” has not yet decided which party to vote for and that he may be influenced by whether or not he likes a party’s leader.

Q: Have you decided what party you will vote for in May’s general election?
A: No
Q: If you haven’t decided which party to vote for, what would persuade you to vote for a
party?
A: A party that keeps to their promises and reaches out to the community on a personal level.
Q: Which party are you least likely to vote for in the general election and why?
A: UKIP because of everything about them.
Q: Do you think the current Welsh Labour Government have successfully governed Wales?
A: Yes and No.
Q: Do you think that the Tory/Lib Dem coalition government have successfully governed
the UK?
A: No, because there are still so many things wrong. For example, problems with taxes and a not so ‘fair community.’
Q: Do you think that the UK should remain part of Europe?
A:Yes
Q: Why do you think that the UK should stay in Europe?
A: If it ain’t broke, don’t break it.
Q: Do you think that Wales should be fully devolved from the UK?
A: No
Q: Why do you think that Wales should not be fully devolved from the UK?
A: There’s just no reason for it. Why change?
Q: Which two of the following policy topics mean the most to you and would persuade you to vote for a party?
(i) The NHS;
(ii) Economy;
(iii) Immigration;
(iv) Education; or
(v) Welfare
A: The Economy and education
Q: Regardless of the party itself, which party leader do you believe to be the most capable Prime Minister and why?
A: Ed Milliband, Labour Party.
Q: Would you choose to vote/not vote for a party if you liked/disliked their leader?
A: Absolutely. The main responsibility of a leader is to lead by example. If he or she fails to champion the principles of fairness and equality then others will follow suit.
