Plaid Cymru calls for on-site learning provision for children of key workers

Plaid Cymru Shadow Education Minister Siân Gwenllian MS said,

“It’s critically important that no child goes home from school Friday night digitally excluded. This means every secondary school child needs a suitable device for accessing their online learning ready for Monday morning. Accessing education through Xboxes and mobiles phones is not good enough.

“Welsh Government must also look to provide on-site provision for all younger learners, and children of key workers who can’t make alternative arrangements.

“This time must be used to get a grasp on the extent of the digital divide. We don’t know what January holds, which is why it is so important for the Welsh Government to take action now, otherwise they run the risk that the new year will reveal just how many children have been left behind.”
