Welsh Conservative health spokesperson Andrew RT Davies MS has reacted to a document that shows 95 patients contracted Covid-19 while receiving treatment at Wrexham Maelor Hospital in November 2020 â up from five the preceding month, an increase of 1,900 percent.
Mr Davies said:
“The massive spike in cases at Wrexham Maelor Hospital is deeply concerning, and I dread to think what the figures for December will look like.
Â
“Also, it seems that the lessons we were told would be learnt after other outbreaks in hospitals, including Wrexham Maelor in July, have not been.
Â
“At the time, the Health Minister admitted that the situation could have been managed better, a classic understatement. So it’s now more imperative than ever that he gets a grip of this situation and launches an immediate investigation into the cause of this spike â and publishes the figures for all ‘healthcare-acquired’ Covid infections at hospitals in Wales.”
