  • Action for Children bringing job and fostering opportunities to region

Action for Childrenā€™s successful therapeutic fostering service based in South Wales is expanding its model and approach in the North Wales area. The leading childrenā€™s charityā€™s fostering service will provide safe, stable foster homes for vulnerable children and young people in the region.

For the first time, North Wales foster parents will be able to join Action for Childrenā€™s innovative service that helps children and young people who have had difficult starts in life and give them a chance to thrive in a loving family. Action for Children Fostering specialises in providing high level support and a holistic therapeutic approach to help the children and families they work with.

The service provides a comprehensive support package to help foster parents give children in need a loving home and all the tools they require to reach their potential.

Manager for Action for Childrenā€™s Fostering Wales service, Matt Lewis, said: ā€œWeā€™re thrilled to be developing our fostering service in North Wales.  It will give the public a high-quality charitable alternative to profit-making fostering providers and we canā€™t wait to get started.

ā€œOur foster families are fully supported by a passionate team and really transform lives, giving children the love, care and stability, they desperately need. This is so important for the children we meet, who have often endured significant neglect and frightening early years experiencesā€.

The service recently appointed senior social worker, Cathryn Williams from Anglesey to coordinate the North Wales launch.  She said: ā€œI am very excited to be part of the development of the North Wales Fostering Service, to be able to support foster parents and children here.  Itā€™s wonderful to be up and running and Iā€™ve no doubt our innovative therapeutic approach will be in high demand across the region.ā€
