WALES have been told they must be patient over Aaron Ramsey’s recovery.
It had been reported that Arsenal star Ramsey’s rehabilitation from the horrific compound leg fracture he suffered in February was well ahead of schedule.
But Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that the talented teenage playmaker only began jogging last week.
“He started a little, little jog last week; he’s not even in light training or kicking a ball,†said Wenger.
“He will be back, of course, but not at the moment.
“When you’ve had an injury like he has it takes a long time to recover.â€
Rumours of Ramsey’s speedy recovery suggested he could even be available for Wales’ Euro 2012 qualifying ties against Bulgaria and Switzerland in October. But Wenger said: “Aaron will be available for us this season but it will be another three months before he is ready.
“If he’s back by November he’s done extremely well.
“You may as well count three months as from today.â€
Wales boss John Toshack had planned to build the Dragons’ Euro campaign around Ramsey after the former Cardiff City player’s dramatic progress at Arsenal last season.
But then Ramsey was involved in a sickening collision with Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross, leaving the young Welshman with a battle to save his career.
Ramsey is winning that fight after undergoing surgery but Toshack now knows he can rule Ramsey out of his plans until England’s Euro 2012 visit next March. West Ham’s Jack Collison could also miss the start of Wales’ Euro campaign in Montenegro next month.
But Toshack hopes to avoid the high number of withdrawals which have thwarted his preparations for the friendly with Luxembourg in Llanelli on August 11.
