SCARLETS REVEAL ALL AT KIT LAUNCH EVENT!

The Scarlets unveiled their eagerly awaited new home and away kits for next season at a special FREE event for supporters at Parc Y Scarlets on Thursday (12thAugust) evening.

The new eye-catching high quality Burrda home and away kits sparked the imagination of supporters with an innovative colour on the away shirt which the Scarlets have labeled ‘tinplate blue’ in line with the heritage of the area.

A fun-packed evening was held for all the family, with supporters flocking to the Scarlets’ popular indoor centre – the Canolfan Delme Thomas.

The new-look home and away kits had been kept a closely-guarded secret until the night so that supporters were the first to be able to see the new look.

The Scarlets say it links with the region’s great heritage, with a bold, modern twist – which they hope supporters of all ages will enjoy wearing and be proud of. The Scarlets are known worldwide for a great rugby heritage that stretches back more than 100 years.  And this season the region has opted to go right back to where it all started and its true origins as a rugby club.

The passionate Scarlets red is still to be proudly on display on the home shirt but this year’s away shirt is ‘blue graphite’ – a tribute back to the original, first-ever Llanelli kit.  The first colours that the club played in were dark blue – which date back to 1879 when Llanelli moved to Stradey Park. In 1881 – 1882, it changed to rose and primrose stripes, then to red and chocolate quarters before Llanelli first took to the field in scarlet on 14thApril 1884.

The Scarlets believe the new graphite colour is distinctive, high quality and will appeal to young, old, male and female.

Scarlets Commercial Director, Rupert Moon said:  “We hope it will get everyone excited about the new season. We wanted to create something new and exciting for the Scarlets this coming season as part of our message that we are true to our heritage whilst looking forward to the future and take pride in our team.

“The event was about making sure our supporters were the first to see the new home and away kits in their full glory! We think there is something for everyone in what we have and as we look to extend our family further, we want all our supporters to have a shirt they feel comfortable in and proud of. It’s new and contemporary to reflect a modern day outlook but with a link to our Scarlets heritage we which take great pride in.”

Scarlets Team Manager Garan Evans said:  “We’re really pleased with the quality and feel of the new kit, it’s gone down very well with the players, it’s high performance and has been well-designed to support what the players need from kit during the game. It’s an important part of how individuals perform so comfort, durability and the feel of the kit is vital.”

The Scarlets players were performing – but this time off the pitch and on the catwalk modelling the new season’s kit range and Scarlets clothing ranges in style, all of which will be appearing later on this summer in the Scarlets shop at the stadium and online at www.scarlets.co.uk.

All Black superstar Regan King and outside half Rhys Priestland were among the players donning the new home and away shirts.

Supporters had the chance to meet the Scarlets first team stars and collect autographs, as well as being the first to order their new shirts with a special 10% DISCOUNT on the night.

The Scarlets also revealed their new Ray Gravell & Friends Charitable Trust heritage clothing range which all ages will wear with pride, knowing that each purchase will help raise funds for one of the region’s best known and loved charities which supports good causes all across West Wales.
