The Royal British Legion club presents on Saturday 28 August, Bank Holiday weekend the award winning artist from the Midlands JackieWoods. Doors open 7pm.Entrance for members and guests £3.Last bingo books 7.50pm.On Monday 30 August there is a Coffee/bingo evening. Entrance 40p.members and guests. Last bingo books 8.20pm.
Pembrey Country Park
Bank Holiday events are on 27 to 30 August there are Windsports Club activities on Cefn Sidan Beach. From 28 to 30 there are Train Club public steam train rides. On 29 and 30 there is a Craft Fair.
Fundraising Quiz
There is a quiz on Thursday evenings at 8.30pm in the Coasting Pilot pub in Burry Port with proceeds going to the Town Band and the Burry Port Opera. Various prizes. All welcome.
Cefn Sidan U3a
The Burry Port and Pembrey U3a group meetings start again in September and include on Monday 6 is the committee meeting at 10.30am and the computer group at 2.15pm.The long walk group on Tuesday 7 contact Jill Davies on 834061 for details.
Also on Tuesday 7 is the film group at 2.15pm showing the film My Beautiful Launderette. Wednesday 8 the business, theatre and excursion group coffee morning is at 11am during which the group leaders will give their reports for the next six months. The gardening group is on Monday 13 at 10.30am. Tuesday 14 at 2.15pm is craft group. The main monthly speaker’s meeting on Monday 20 at 2.15pm has a talk on South Wales Industry in Art. On Tuesday 21 at 10.30am is the local history group talk on William Haggar, Fairground Film Maker. Also on Tuesday 21 is the short walk group contact Jill Davies on 834061. Monday 27 the drama group meet at 2.15pm and are looking for new members. There is Welsh every Friday afternoon at 2.15pm starting on 3 September. Jazz Night
On 11 September there is a Jazz Night at the Ashburnham Hotel, Pembrey for Burry Port Lifeboat. Time 7pm for 7.30pm meal. Dance to Liberty Street Jazzmen until midnight. Tickets £16.50 each inclusive of meal. Tickets available from Lorna 01554 832164 or Dorothy 832913.
Garden & Crafts Show
On Saturday 21 August at Pembrey Community Hall opening at 2pm the Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening Club hold their 28th Annual Show. There will be refreshments, raffle, entertainment, tombola, plant and garden sales, books and magazines. Admission £1.50 adult’s children 50p.Schedules or details to enter exhibits please contact show secretary Cllr Hugh Shepherdson on 834377. Registration for entries takes place on Friday 20 August between 6-8pm or morning of show 8.30-10.30am. Most classes are open to all. Registration will close promptly as exhibits must be in place by 10.45am before judging begins at 11am. There are classes in fruit, vegetables, flowers, wine, cookery, knitting, floral art, various handicrafts,photography,art,preserves,wood turning and novice and children’s classes. Show Presidents are County Cllr Clive Scourfield and Cllr Stephen James Pembrey and Burry Port Town Mayor.
Play Bus Scheme
The Action for Children double decker play bus is situated at the rear of Ashburnham Hotel car park for the next nine months.Pre-school children can attend free during term time and children up to age ten free during school holidays. Times available are Wednesdays 10am-12noon and 1-3pm. All kinds of activities and games are available.
Car Boot Sale 
Please note the car boot sale held every Saturday at the harbour has relocated to the grassed area opposite the cockle factory. Sellers 9am onwards, buyers 10am onwards. £5 a car or £8 a van.
