The Ghost of a Lady Howard

0
1684

Location: Parc Howard

IN 1911 BRYNCAERAU was sold to Sir Edward Stafford Howard and his new bride Lady Catharine who was the daughter of Sir Arthur and Lady Margaret Cowell Stepney.

Lady Catharine was Sir Edward’s second wife and to celebrate their first wedding anniversary in 1912 Bryncaerau was given to the people of Llanelli, after which it was known as Parc Howard. Lady Catharine and Sir Edward did not have many years of marriage because Sir Edward died suddenly in 1916.

Local tradition suggests that at midnight on midsummer’s eve the ghost of a former Lady Howard haunts the grounds of Parc Howard. The ghostly apparition travels around the grounds in her coach and horses before returning to the main entrance of the mansion, disappearing into thin air.
