Llanellitown.com helps light up school’s eco-day!
Â
On Friday November 5th, staff and pupils of Copperworks School celebrated receiving their second green flag, with no recommendations, by holding an “Eco Day†organised my teacher Mrs. Jane Beynon-Morgan who is the school’s eco co-ordinator
The day began with a “Walk to School†event. Encouraging parents to leave their cars at home, teachers, parents and pupils were joined by Gari Gosafe and representatives from the Road Safety team. They made their way to school together wearing hats they had made using recyclable materials.
A celebratory assembly followed with eco songs and prize giving. Each class had made a different scarecrow using recycled materials. Having the difficult job of judging the scarecrows was Charles and Meryl Watson from Glanymor and Tyisha’s Environment and Regeneration Action Group.
All pupils’ names were put in the raffle drum to win prizes donated by Street Scene, and Tidy towns –Compost bin, a Litter picker, a can crusher, food measures and recipe book and a Bag for Life! Also Llanellitown.com made sure each pupil had energy efficient light bulbs to take home and carry on the eco message.
Llanellitown.com  Director, Jonathan Williams said “We’d like to congratulate Copperworks School for achieving a second green flag and are only too happy to work with them to help spread the environment message.â€
Throughout the day there was storytelling, a litter pick and a book swap. The children had a great green day and are now working towards their next green flag!
