REDS UNDER 19s STAY ON TOP OF THE LEAGUE

LLANELLI U19s 4 CARMARTHEN TOWN U19s 2

The Reds under 19s maintained their position at the top of the MacWhirter Welsh League Youth West Division with a comfortable win against local rivals Carmarthen Town at Stebonheath Park on Monday night.

The young Reds started the game well and took the lead after just 9 minutes. Aaron Houlihan made a penetrating run through the middle of the visitors defence only to be brought down just outside the penalty box. From the resulting free kick, skipper, Joe Clarke hammered the ball past a helpless Carmarthen keeper.

Four minutes later, Houlihan got onto the score sheet himself with a fine finish from just inside the six yard box.

After that the game was quite an even affair with the visitors coming back into the game but there was no more scoring before the half time whistle.

The Reds made an enforced change at the interval with Kristian Corbisiero replacing the the un well Aaron Houlihan and he made an immediate impact when he headed home the third Reds goal just two minutes into the second half!

The Reds were now dominating proceedings and they eventually went 4 0 ahead after 63 minutes when Jake Parry scored his first goal for Llanelli with a neatly taken finish.

The Reds were then forced to re shape their line up due to injuries and this let Carmarthen back into the game as they reduced the arrears in the 80th and 84th minutes.

This win keeps the Reds at the top of the league and their next game is away at Haverfordwest next Monday night.
