Snow warning

SNOW showers along with freezing temperatures could hit Carmarthenshire later this week.

Weather forecasters are predicting snow from Thursday afternoon with possible accumulations of between 1-2cm. Further snow showers and icy conditions are expected Friday and Saturday. Road surface temperatures are likely to fall well below zero.

Gritting teams will be working throughout the period but drivers are being urged to take extra care, particularly on untreated roads. Primary routes will be given priority.

The council receives daily updates from the MET office on weather and conditions so that the appropriate action can be taken.

Gritting teams go out at times that are dependent on the weather including late night and during the early hours of the morning. There is 24-hour availability, seven days a week.

Executive board member for technical services Councillor Philip Hughes said: “We are again reminding motorists to drive carefully.”

Please refer to ‘Traffic Wales’ for advice on road conditions as well as local radio and heed any police warnings.
