REDS YOUTH STORM INTO QUARTER FINALS

The Reds under 19s easily overcome their local rivals, Carmarthen Town, in the third round of this season’s FAW Youth Cup with an emphatic display of attacking football at Stebonheath Park last Thursday evening.

The game, which had been switched from the original venue of Richmond Park, due to two previous postponements, started competitively with the visitors matching the Reds for the first twenty minutes.

Adam Orme and Reds skipper, Joe Clarke, both went close to opening the scoring only to see their efforts going wide of the upright.

It was Orme who eventually opened the scoring when he hit the net after 34 minutes. Joe Clarke then hit the cross bar and then made it 2 0 when he scored direct from a free kick after Orme had been fouled outside the penalty area.

The Reds continued to press hard and they were rewarded with a third goal when former Reds Academy player, Ben Sole, put through his own net after a misunderstanding with his goal keeper.

At the start of the second half, the Reds lost the services of their skipper, Clarke, when he received his marching orders from referee, Daniel Beckett, for his second yellow card of the game, when he failed to retreat 10 yards at a free kick.

This set back only inspired the young Reds and they went further ahead after 66 minutes when Orme scored his second goal of the game.

Five minutes later, Orme was on target again to grab his hat trick and in a storming finish, Kristian Corbisiero and Jake Parry added further goals to complete the rout!.

The Reds will now be away to either The New Saints or Neath in the quarter finals.
