RHS Britain in Bloom

National weekend of tree planting, March 26 -27. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has joined forces with the Woodland Trust and is offering free saplings to ‘In Bloom’ & It’s Your Neighbourhood’ Groups. To qualify, you need to register as a group online by 9th February.

Groups can apply for free packs of either 105 trees (suitable for planting as hedges or copses) or 420 trees (sufficient for approximately an acre of land or for planting across different sites). There are four pack themes to choose from, helping you find the right mix for your project and area:

  • Year-round colour – giving you beautiful views throughout the year. Species include field maple, hawthorn, hazel, birch, rowan, cherry and dogwood.
  • Wood fuel – keep the log fires burning. Species include ash, birch, cherry, oak and rowan.
  • Jams, jellies, chutneys and cordials – grow a wild harvest. Species include hazel, blackthorn, crab apple, elder and dog rose.
  • Wildlife – provide new homes for our native wildlife. Species include hawthorn, hazel, birch, rowan, oak and blackthorn.

For more details on how to apply, please visit the RHS website.
