Consultation on control of tobacco products in Wales

One of the key themes identified in The Welsh Assembly Government’s Our Healthy Future strategy is the need to further reduce smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke.

The Assembly Government is now inviting views and comments on the draft version of its Tobacco Control Action Plan for Wales.

The draft action plan builds on the Welsh Assembly Government’s programme of measures to discourage young people from starting to smoke. It also wants to help support smokers who want to give up and promote smoke-free environments.

From a business point of view, the consultation has relevance to:

  • the sale and display of tobacco products
  • reducing levels of smoking amongst employees
  • reducing exposure to second-hand smoke

The consultation period closes on 18 May 2011.
