Men’s Bowls Club

A players (men) meeting will be held on Wednesday 6 April at 7pm in the club pavilion. Members are requested to make a special effort to attend the meeting, as there are issues to be discussed. A warm welcome is extended to anyone interested in joining the club.  

British Legion Annual Meeting

The Burry Port British Legion club have re-scheduled the AGM postponed from 14 March.It will now be held at 8pm prompt Wednesday 30 March. This is the latest convenient date to comply with club rules. A copy of the agenda is posted on the notice board in the club.As many members as possible are urged to attend.

A Branch meeting is to be held on Tuesday 5 April at 7pm All are welcome.

Also we need a secretary and treasurer. These positions are voluntary and only involve a couple of hours a week. It is essential for the club to have these positions filled. Gardening Club

On Monday 4 April the Pembrey and Burry Port Gardening Club are holding their monthly meeting at 7.15pm in the Community Hall,Pembrey. After Tips of the Month there will be speaker Carrie Thomas on Aquilegia an Obsession. Everyone is welcome to come along. Cost £1 at the door to include a raffle ticket and refreshments. The garden club meets on the first Monday of the month excepting Bank Holidays, why not come and join us for annual fee of only £4. Enquiries to secretary on 01554 833490.

Burry Port Town Band Welsh Night

Our famous Welsh Night with Twmpath is on Saturday 2 April at 7pm in the Memorial Hall for just £15 per person. A 3 course meal of Welsh Leek & Potato Soup,Welsh Black Beef braised in Felinfoel Beer served with green beans and creamy mash (Mushroom & Spinach Linguini available as a vegetarian option) followed by Welsh Cake with Strawberries and Cream Tower finished off with tea or coffee, entertainment with the Twmpath and drinks from the bar. Few tickets remaining and there will be no tickets available on the door, so book now to avoid disappointment. To book tickets please call Edmond John on 01554 833749 or speak to any band member. Folk Club

The next folk club meeting will be on Monday April 11 at 7.30pm. The venue is the Coasting Pilot,Bridge Street.This is an “open mic” acoustic night and we invite singers,instrumentalists,poetry readings,stories etc. and also those who wish to sit back and enjoy. Cefn Sidan U3a

The Burry Port and Pembrey U3A group meetings in April include Monday 4 is the committee meeting at 10.30am and the computer group at 2.15pm. Tuesday 5 is the film group at 2.15pm showing The King’s Speech. and the walking group in the morning contact Jill on 834061. The gardening group meeting is on Monday 11 at 10.30am.Tuesday 12 is craft/art group at 2.15pm.Wednesday 13 the business, theatre and excursion group coffee morning is at 11am.The main monthly Speaker’s meeting on Monday 18 at 2.15pm has the subject Merthyr Rising of 1831.Tuesday 19 at 10am is the local history group trip to Laugharne combined with the short walk group.Monday 25 the drama group is cancelled (Easter Monday).Tuesday 26 the short walk group in the afternoon contact Val on 832302.There is Welsh every Friday afternoon at 2.15pm except on Friday 22 which is Good Friday.Meetings usually take place in the Memorial Hall annexe or side rooms,except the walking groups.New members will be most welcome.Enquiries to Penny on 836969 or Chris on 834232.
