“Boot camp” for Welsh technology entrepreneurs

The Welsh Assembly Government is providing £3 million support to the Alacrity Foundation – a not for profit organisation set up by Welsh entrepreneur Sir Terry Mathews.

The Alacrity Foundation will provide 10 Welsh engineering and business graduates each year with hands-on entrepreneurial training for up to twelve months. Focussing on technology projects for which real world demand has been identified, they will then be supported in setting up their own technology business in Wales. The new businesses will get public and private funding in return for a stake in the start-up company.

The £6 million project is expected to run for 5 years.
