Cor Curiad celebrates at Llanelli festival

This popular choir is delighted to be celebrating its 16th year of music and will perform at the Llanelli Festival on Saturday 20th August. Their support is much appreciated.

From its foundation in 1995 the aim of the Choir has been to promote the Welsh language and culture of choral singing. While the majority of members are bilingual Welsh

is not essential. The youngest member is 16 years-old and members come from a variety of backgrounds and professions. Some have retired but one thing they all have in common is enthusiasm, commitment and an enjoyment of making music.

The Choir is led by a young, talented, musical team, with Musical Director, Mrs Alex Esney-Davies, accompanied on the piano by Mrs Jane Jewell. Alex & Jane have introduced

new, modern music to the choir repertoire while maintaining a traditional choral base.  From its earliest beginnings the Choir has put its talent and efforts to good use and has

raised tens of thousands of pounds for local and national charities.  The Choir has performed in various venues including the Millennium Theatre, Cardiff. They have also performed with other artists including the Bournemouth Police Male Voice Choir and the Tamworth Male Voice Choir. The Choir was delighted when Peter Karrie, of “Phantom” fame, accepted their invitation to perform with them. The choir meets to rehearse on Thursday evenings in the school room of Hall Street, Church, in West End, Llanelli. Anyone is welcome to drop in to see the choir at any time.
