Burry Port Traders Forum
Carmarthenshire County Council is establishing a forum for traders in Burry Port.
The council’s Head of Economic Development Wendy Walters said the intention was to set up a forum along the same lines as the one for traders in Carmarthen’s King Street.
She said: “We would be more than happy to work with local traders to look at the regeneration of Burry Port town and see how traders can benefit.â€
Burry Port businessman and vice chairman of the Chamber of Trade Hefin Williams welcomed the move.
He said: “What we are looking for is a voice for the business sector in Burry Port. We have the Chamber of Trade and this is to set up a forum with traders and the council as part of the regeneration of Burry Port.â€
Executive board member for regeneration Cllr Clive Scourfield said: “I very much welcome this. It shows that the business sector is active and that they feel that by getting together they can bring more trade to Burry Port. I am a great believer that unity is strength.â€
