Sarah ,commented “I’ve wanted to do a skydive for a long time but never got around to doing it until now. I will jump from a plane from 13,000 ft, freefalling at 120mph. This will be my first experience and I’m sure it will be one, which I won’t forget!!
I will be raising money for the British Deaf Association in the hope that it will help change deaf people and their families lives.
My grandmother was born deaf and from the age of 3, I started signing BSL(British Sign Language) and have done so ever since. I then went on to study at Graig CCTA campus in Llanelli at the age of 26 and there I completed my BSL Level 1 & 2 qualification, and I’m now looking to progress to level 3. I thoroughly enjoy signing and I’m very passionate about it due to my grandmother’s influence. I have been running Sign Language classes for over a year now in Penyfan, with over 60 people attending throughout the year. I have also just started a beginner’s class which has been very successful at the Multicultural drop in centre at Lakefield. During my time teaching these classes I’m in my element and thoroughly enjoy every moment and think it’s fantastic that people want to learn Sign Language and to communicate with the deaf community.
Also one day when I have children, I would like to teach them sign language from a very young age, just as I got brought up and would tell them many stories about how amazing my grandmother was and what she was like as a person. Then hopefully if my children decide to have kids they will do the same. I would like it passed on through our family for many years to come and hope it never dies out.
As the skydive gets closer I’m getting more and more excited by the day, it will be an experience that I will never forget and the money raised is going to a very good cause, so will definitely be worth the jump. The fundraising is going very well, with a total of £250 amount raised so far but still continuing to collect as much as I can with a few weeks left, I’m hoping to raise nearly a £1000.
I’m raising this money to help change the lives of people who are deaf. Any facilities, equipment that can help the deaf community will be a great benefit to them. So with your help, I need to raise another £800. So please give your help and support and help me raise the funds for a very good cause.
Many thanks for all your help and support
