Burry Port News (we 18th September 2011)
Probus Club
Since the last meeting of the club two of our Honorary members Jack Rees and Norman Lewis have passed away. Jack Rees distinguished himself in the Parachute Regiment during the Second World war and was awarded France’s highest honour, the Legion of Honour in 2004.Norman Lewis was a founder member of the
Burry Port and Pembrey Probus club. He was multi-talented and distinguished himself in many fields especially journalism and acting with the Phoenix Theatre Group. Both will be sadly missed. The guest speaker at our last meeting was Noel Rees a teacher of drama and the performing arts for over 40 years. He gave a most interesting account of his involvement in community theatre and being the artistic director of Llanelli Phoenix Theatre Group. He continues to produce shows and plays for theatres in Wales. The vote of thanks was given by Ray Lewis.
