Doctor Who Christmas Edition Filmed in Llanelli?
The rumour mill has been buzzing around Llanelli over reports of strange aliens and a blue police box.
A hoax? Or BBC Wales filming the Christmas Edition of Doctor Who in Llanelli?
As our pictures prove, it was the latter. Filming began last Monday at Stradey Castle and continued till Friday.
The production base was located at Sandy Bridge, opposite The Sandpiper and cast and crew were shuttled back and forth to Stradey Castle.Â

Local Doctor Who fan Richard Jones who took the sneaky peak of Matt Smith said:
“That picture was taken in the car park opposite the Sandpiper.”
“My friends and I went looking around Llanelli, Park Howard, Stradey Castle and their base in the car park as we had a large group of free lectures in college.”
“We took the pic just as he was leaving at 5:30 and there were many people there at the time but 5 of us went hunting on the Thursday and Friday.”
There isn’t much news on the storyline but Doctor Who sites mention that they were filming the Christmas edition and Claire Skinner from BBC comedy Outnumbered was pictured wearing a glamorous 1940s-style costume.
Whilst staying in Llanelli, it’s also been reported that Matt Smith attended a meeting of The Llanelli Rotary Club in The Stradey Park Hotel. Robert Lloyd, the group’s media officer is reported to have spotted Matt enjoying a drink with friends and invited him in to the meeting.
Robert is quoted as saying:
“It was a bit of a double take but when I realised who it was I told him: ‘Welcome to Llanelli’.
“He seemed genuinely pleased to be here and said how much he liked Llanelli.”
“It is not every day you get a Timelord stopping off at one of our meetings. But he was a real gentleman and very accommodating.”
