College’s ‘have a go’ tasters at Parc y Scarlets
Coleg Sir Gâr is encouraging visitors to this Saturday’s Scarlets game to ‘have a go’ at a new skill.
In partnership with the Scarlets, the college is offering a number of taster sessions for the public, including woodturning, tiling, plumbing and sport.
This event also supports the UK-wide ‘Have a Go’ campaign which was launched in London by Boris Johnson and skills minister John Hayes as part of the biggest international skills competition, WorldSkills 2011,
also being held in London this year. WorldSkills London is encouraging
schools, colleges and businesses to organise ‘have a go’ events that illustrate the range of skills training opportunities in local areas.
Skills champion for Wales and Coleg Sir Gâr principal/CEO, Barry Liles
said: “As a college, we shall be engaging with the community and encouraging people to develop their talents and demonstrating that learning can be fun and beneficial, so we’re looking forward to being part of the activities at the stadium this weekend.”
Coleg Sir Gar will be situated in the East Stand at Parc y Scarlets from 4.30pm before kick-off at 6.30pm.
