Fit 4 Fun Recipe of the Month “Chicken Pasta Salad”

Fit 4 Fun believe it’s important to involve children as much as possible in cooking daily meals and the aim of these recipes is to get all the family into the kitchen to prepare some healthy and nutritious dishes, which everyone can enjoy!

What you need

  • 100g pasta shapes
  • 1 lettuce
  • ¼ cucumber
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 carrot
  • 100g cooked sliced chicken
  • 2 tablespoons of low fat dressing

Equipment

  • Knife
  • Saucepan
  • Spoon
  • Scales
  • Colander
  • Grater
  • Peeler

What you do

  1. Bring a small saucepan of water to the boil, and then add the pasta. Simmer for about 8-10 minutes (check the packet instructions).
  2. While the pasta is cooking, prepare the other ingredients: shred the lettuce and chicken; slice the tomato; chop the cucumber into small chunks; peel and grate the carrot.
  3. Drain the boiling water away from the pasta into a colander in the sink.
  4. Place the pasta into a serving dish and stir in 1 x 15ml of dressing.
  5. Add the other ingredients and mix with a spoon.
  6. Lastly, drizzle over the remaining dressing.
  7. Serve.

Take care! Make sure an adult helps when boiling the water and using the knife, grater and peeler
