Residents urged to think about renewable energy

RESIDENTS in Carmarthenshire are urged to consider renewable energy for their home and benefit from the Government’s financial incentive scheme.

Local renewable energy specialists will be at St Peter’s Hall in Nott Square, Carmarthen, between 12.30pm and 2pm, on Thursday (November 3), with information and advice. So come along and find out more before it is too late as the incentive scheme is likely to reduce after March 31st 2012

The event, organised by Carmarthenshire County Council’s sustainability section, will have information on a range of sustainability issues from green energy to waste and transport.

People can try the Energy Saving Trust’s eco driving simulator; there will be a display of low-emission vehicles from Sinclairs and Gravells as well as the council’s electric car. Traveline Cymru will also be in attendance with information on the range of services available to help you plan your journey whether by bus, bike, ferry or air.

Carmarthenshire’s Sustainability Champion Cllr Pam Palmer said: “Much work is underway in the county to reduce our carbon footprint and reduce climate change and it is important we all think about what we can do to help.

“Recycling, using transport wisely, shopping ethically and thinking about the use of energy, could all help to preserve the planet for future generations.

“I hope residents will come along to the event to find out how they can become more eco-friendly and in many cases save money at the same time.”
