Stacey’s Welsh call-up

An A level student from Bigyn has been selected for the U17s Wales national football squad and has played her first match in Eastern Europe.

Stacey Webber, a 16 year-old student and football academy player at Coleg Sir Gâr, received a call-up to a training camp but initially couldn’t attend due to a ligament injury.

Following recovery of her injury and another call-up for training, the winger and former Bryngwyn Comprehensive School pupil, was selected to play for the Welsh squad in a 10-day tournament in Moldova.

“It was the best experience of my life,” said Stacey, who plays for Dafen AFC.

“I enjoyed having the opportunity of playing against international teams such as France and the Faroe Islands as well as the social aspect of the tour.”
