A positive action weekend was recently held by Carmarthenshire Roads Policing & Armed Response Teams.
Between Thursday 3rd and Saturday 5th November officers from these units focused their efforts on targeting criminal activity across the county with particular emphasis on the Amman Towy area.
“Patrols were carried out on roads across the county, but we did pay particular attention to the Towy Valley area following recent burglaries there,†said Sergeant Ian Price of the Roads Policing Unit. “It was a successful operation and a number of offences were detected.
“We had 14 offences with drivers having either no insurance or no driving licence, and three offences of having no MOT. Eight cars were also seized under section 165 of the Roads Traffic Act.
“Three people were arrested for driving with excess alcohol, and five people were arrested for drugs offences. Officers assisted divisional officers with search warrants leading to 3 of the 5 drugs arrestsâ€.
“And there were 27 road traffic offences which were dealt with by way of fixed penalties.
“High visibility proactive patrols and operations such as this one deny criminals the use of the road and ensure that road users are safe and legal. And more are planned in the coming months.â€
Since the operation there have been no burglaries reported in the Amman Towy section. Officers are currently increasing night time presence in the area to try and prevent further crime in this area.
