Congratulations Joanne!
Llanellitown.com Joanne Yeo has recently been crowned Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Services’ Volunteer of the Year for 2011.
Joanne has already been crowned Wales Volunteer of the Year for 2011, so this makes it a unique double for her.
Her impressive list of volunteering activities this year includes:
-
being the secretary of the Safer Communities Action Group
- volunteering at Kerb Craft sessions at Copperworks School.
- Run a successful Road Safety Road Show in partnership with the Road Safety Team,
- worked in partnership with Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Team on a Home Fire Safety Road Show.
- Volunteering at the Mishty Cee Children’s Development Centre in Ghana during May, working at the school and orphanage
- working with Bigyn School on a garden project for the Infant and Nursery classes
If that wasn’t enough, she also works in partnership with many groups, projects and organisations on within Glanymor and Tyisha.
Joanne told us:
“It was lovely to be recognised for the community work I do. Sometimes volunteering is a thankless job, but I don’t do what I do for thanks or praise.”
“I volunteer in my community to help change things for the better, for my children and for families living here.” “
There’s always someone who does far more than you and there are a great many fantastic volunteers in Glanymor and Tyisha who should be recognised for all the hard work they do.”
“If I can make one small change, then I’m proud of that!”
The team at Llanellitown.com would also like say congratulations to Joanne on her win and for her support for us. Â Well done Joanne!
