Llanelli Police investigate computer scam
Llanelli police are investigating a complaint from a local resident that he had received a telephone call from a person representing “Windows Solutions”.
Â
Â
The caller stated that “He has viruses on the computer and for a fee of £60 per month or one fee of £167 the virus would be cleared” and to log on to www. teamviewer in order that the caller could gain access to the computer.
This was agreed and the caller had access to the computer while on the phone. Realising this was a scam the call was terminated. Please be aware of computer scams. Do not give any information to strangers either on the phone or on the doorstep.
Some of you may recall that we experienced a call ourselves a few months which we published online (click here to read). Â We were also contacted last week by a caller claiming to be from Microsoft. Â When he was told that our own techies would look into any pc problems, the caller told us he was one one of our techies!
At this point, we hung up!
