U20s Six Nations call-up for college pair

Coleg Sir Gâr sports students and sports academy players Jake Randall from Llandovery, and Iolo Evans from Llanelli, have been called-up to play for the U20s Welsh rugby squad in the Six Nations.

The pair, who are both studying a sports diploma course at the college’s Llanelli campus, will join established players returning to the squad for a second year and merge into two of the 22 new faces joining the squad. The team will play their home matches in North Wales at Eirias Park, home to the North Wales regional team, but will first head to Dubarry Park to face Ireland on February 3. They return to Wales to play Scotland on February 10 in the first of three home matches.

“Iolo who plays for Llanelli RFC and Jake who plays for Llandovery, have been selected as wings in the Six Nations,” said rugby academy director Euros Evans. “In fact, they will join front-row Kirby Myhill, a former sports student of ours, who returns to the squad after appearing 11 times for the Scarlets since August this year.

“We wish them well in their personal and team performance for the forthcoming games.”
