Sports student is shortlisted for LV= Breakthrough Player award

A Llanelli student in his final year of a sports coaching degree at Coleg Sir Gâr’s Graig campus, has been shortlisted for the LV= Breakthrough Player award.

The award recognises young players who stood out in the 2011-12 competition and student Adam Warren from Burry Port, a former Ysgol Glan y Mor pupil, joins a 20 strong group of emerging players including former Coleg Sir Gâr student Stephen Shingler (London Irish).

The Scarlets centre, who also plays for Llandovery RFC, is also an academy student at the college where he was selected to play for the Wales U20s squad for the Six Nations.  All shortlisted players will be narrowed down to six, by a panel of rugby enthusiasts which includes former international player Ieuan Evans, The Telegraph sports correspondent, Gavin Mairs and chaired by Premiership Rugby communications director and former editor of Rugby World magazine, Paul Morgan.

Euros Evans, sports science lecturer and director of rugby at Coleg Sir Gâr said: “We’re hoping that both Adam and Stephen will be chosen in the final six players for the award and if they’re successful, then it’s over to the fans who will cast the final vote at lv.com/rugby.”
