Youth Action against vandalism

Young people in Llanelli have shown what ‘Youth Action’ really stands for with the cleanup of Penymorfa Park.

The graffiti park in Penymorfa, completed as part of the splash and play initiative, was vandalised with white paint.

Communities First has worked alongside the SMART project to organise a clean up by young people who then had the opportunity to paint their own graffiti on one side of the park’s graffiti wall.

Communities First Development Worker Kelly Wood said: “This is about encouraging young people to speak up about the issues that they face and taking action to tackle those issues. It is also about ownership, these young people’s work will be present for the whole community to appreciate.”

“It is hoped as a result of the project that the awareness of the effects of vandalism will be raised.”
