Environment Group’s recycle success
by Jonathan Williams
LEN’s (the Llanelli Environmental Network) Bigyn 4 environment group has been busy making the area more environmentally friendly by helping to place two recycling bins near the park.
The bins, one glass and the other tin can have been in operation now for the past few months and have proved a massive success with locals.
Cllr David Skivington, of the Bigyn 4 environment group said:
“We’re very pleased with how the recycling bins have gone and it’s great to see everyone using them. “
“We’re all determined to make this area cleaner and since the bins were installed, there seems to be less smashed glass around the park area.”
“We’d like to thank Mike McCaully of Carmarthenshire County Council for his recycling support and also LEN for trying to make Bigyn 4 a cleaner, greener place to live.”
The environmental group is made up of Communities First Bigyn 4, PLTRA, Llanellitown.com, Dyfed Powys Police local policing team of PC Adrian Ward and PCSO Lauren Hopkins, Home Watch Co-ordinator Adrian Rudderham and Housing Officer Kirsty Davies.
LEN said:
“We have to work together to look after our areas and it’s important that everyone helps.”
“A discarded glass bottle could end up hurting a child or an adult, so it’s important that we recycle it correctly.”
If any resident has any environment issues or concerns, then they can report them to Councillor Skivington every Thursday from 10 till 12 in the Portacabin. Also available there are Blue and Green recycling bags, the blue bags are free but there is a charge for green ones.
