FAW Club Licensing Results Announced

The FAW Club Licensing First Instance Body met in Cardiff today to assess the twelve UEFA Licensing applications and the twenty-one FAW Domestic Club Licensing applications.

Eleven of the Welsh Premier League clubs received the UEFA Licence and thirteen clubs, including two from the Huws Gray Alliance and one from the Welsh League were also awarded the Licence.

The clubs to gain the UEFA Licence for 2012/13 season are;

• Aberystwyth Town

• Airbus UK Broughton

• Afan Lido FC

• Bala Town

• Bangor City FC

• Carmarthen Town

• Llanelli AFC

• Newtown AFC

• Port Talbot Town

• Prestatyn Town

• The New Saints FC

Clubs are either assessed at their own stadium for the UEFA Infrastructure Criteria or at an alternative UEFA-compliant stadium to meet UEFA’s Stadium Regulations.

FAW Welsh Cup finalists Cefn Druids, who will need the UEFA Licence to participate in the UEFA Europa League if they qualify on sporting merit, were not assessed for the UEFA licence at this meeting.

The UEFA licence is only open to top-division clubs. Article 15 of the UEFA Licensing Regulations allows for a club to apply for an extraordinary application if such a situation occurs. Cefn Druids, with the assistance of the FAW, will provide this information to UEFA by their deadline of May 2nd 2012.

The thirteen clubs to gain the FAW Domestic Licence for 2012/13 season are;

• Aberystwyth Town

• Airbus UK Broughton

• Afan Lido FC

• Bala Town

• Bangor City FC

• Carmarthen Town

• GAP Connah’s Quay

• Haverfordwest County

• Llandudno Town

Neath FC were refused a UEFA Licence and the following clubs were refused an FAW Domestic Licence; Bridgend Town, Buckley Town, Cefn Druids, Flint Town Utd, Neath FC, CPD Porthmadog, Rhyl FC and The New Saints FC.

All clubs have the right to appeal to a separate and independent Appeals Body, which would sit on Friday April 27th 2012 for a final and binding decision.
