Bus Station revamp after complaints
Llanelli bus station which opened last year is to undergo a revamp after complaints.
Passengers have criticised the seating and have commented on rain coming through on windy days.
Carmarthenshire County Council have been reported as saying that repairs at the East Gate site will be made by the construction firm which built it.
Stephen Pilliner, head of transport and engineering, said: “The seating will be extended and levelled within the extended glazed area.”
The £1m bus station was built by Britannia Construction and opened early last August.
A cinema, hotel, restaurant and retail units make up the rest of the development and is due to be completed in the autumn.
But Mr Pilliner said the bus station cannot be completed until the main development opens because it is linked to a 260-space car park that is still part of the construction site alongside.
He added the criticism of the bus station had been unfair because it had operated successfully despite being next to a construction site and leading to one of the busiest roundabouts in the county.
