Pregnancy Buddy Scheme

Are you interested in becoming part of an exciting new Health venture?

Sure Start Llanelli, working with Hywel Dda Health Board’s Volunteering for Health project, is expanding its Volunteers Mentoring scheme and looking for volunteers to be part of a pilot Pregnancy Buddy scheme.

Our Pregnancy Buddies will:

• offer emotional and practical support to mums and dads-to- be
• help new mums and dads- to- be to feel informed and confident in the decisions they make about the pregnancy and child
• attend ante natal appointments with mums and dads
• offer support to breast feeding mums
• there may be times when a pregnancy buddy could be invited by the parents to the birth of a child

Mary Awty said: “Going through a pregnancy can be an exciting but also a confusing time. The idea of pregnancy buddy is to offer that bit of extra support to future parents when needed.”

In return for your time we will offer excellent training and supervision. Out of pocket expenses will also be paid.
