Calendar Girls comes to Carmarthenshire
THE West End smash hit phenomenon Calendar Girls is coming to Carmarthenshire.
Llanelli Little Theatre is performing the play at the Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen on Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8.
Performing rights to the play are being released from the September 1 and director Julian Murphy believes the Little Theatre will be one of the very first theatre groups to perform the play in Wales.
Calendar Girls is based on the true story of 11 WI members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the leukaemia research fund.
Calendar Girls was made into a film in 2003 with an all-star cast of Helen Mirren, Julie Walters and John Alderton.
It opened as a play at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2008 and has since become the fastest selling play in British theatre history.
The cast of 14 features the regular Little Theatre faces including Kathy Bowen, Sonia Harries, Graham Phennah, Martin Boyd, Elizabeth Bevan, Marie Edwards, Gerry Larkin, Odette Griffiths, Hefin Rosser, Ann Benjamin, Lesley Cooper, Jacky Lewis, Alana Cater-Sheehan and Julian Murphy.
Tickets for are £10 with concessions and are on sale at the Lyric Theatre box office.
