Increase in anti social behaviour at North Dock leads to an increase in police patrols in the area

The start of summer has not only brought with it some nice weather but also a trend underage drinking around the North Dock and Llanelli beach area.

The number of calls being received by local police has now led to the local sergeant taking positive action to curb the problem and dissuade others from behaving in a similar way in the coming months.

“The warm spell we saw in the middle of May did unfortunately encourage youngsters to drink in the North Dock and Llanelli beach area,” said Sergeant Justin Evans. “Obviously there are clear dangers in doing this, not only because a lot of these youngsters were under age but also because they are drinking close to the water.

“As a result of this anti-social behaviour, I’ve sent officers to conduct increased patrols in the area, and they’ve been issuing Section 27 notices which require a person to leave the area in which they are behaving anti-socially for a specified amount of time. If they return before they’re supposed to, they face being arrested and taken into custody.

“The weather may not be so nice at the moment, but I want to advise youngsters that we will be out and about in this area throughout the summer and will not tolerate such anti-social behaviour from spoiling the lives of those who live and visit this beauty spot.”
