Crime levels fall in Dyfed Powys

The latest crime figures released this month, July, 2012, demonstrate that the streets of Dyfed-Powys are still getting safer with a 2.6% drop in crime compared to the year before.

2011/12 End of Year Figures

  • Total crime volumes down by -2.6% (-565 fewer crimes).
  • Total detection rate up by 0.5% to stand at 49.6%.
  • Total Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) down by -17.5%.

Deputy Chief Constable Nick Ingram said: “I am very pleased with the figures, particularly in that we are able to report further reductions. This is testament to all my staff, who should be recognised for their efforts.

“I would also like to acknowledge the significant work that is taking place with our partners, who also deserve credit. During these challenging times of austerity, we are all working hard to ensure that we maintain standards, listen to people’s concerns and provide the best quality of service possible to the communities of Dyfed-Powys.

“In return, I ask for the continued support of our local communities to help us prevent crime and reduce anti-social behaviour.”

Gwyn Hopkins, Chair of Dyfed Powys Police Authority, said: “I welcome the news that crime is falling in the Dyfed Powys area, police officers and police staff should be proud of this achievement. I hope this news will reassure people living in our communities throughout mid and west Wales that the police are working hard to keep our streets safe.

“The Police Authority, which scrutinises the Force on behalf of the public, is proud of the positive working relationship it has developed with the Force and hopes this legacy will continue to be enhanced under the new Police & Crime Commissioner.”

To pass on information about crime, suspicious activity or antisocial behaviour, the public can call 101, speak to their local neighbourhood policing team or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
