1911 community march August 18th 2012

The 1911 Commemorative Committee decided last year to make the march which was so successful in the centenary year an annual event.

This year the theme will be our local health service and Sosppan is invited to join the march from the Station to the spring gardens followed by a rally and speeches there in support of our hospital. The Cambria Marching band will again lead the parade.

The Sospann banner will be prominent behind the band and other flags and placards welcome.

We are inviting all community organisations in the town to join and show support for the retention of health services in Prince Philip hospital. A lead speaker from Sosppan, our MP, AM’s etc will be invited together with the local mayors and chairs of the councils, local trades unions, associations and charities. All are welcome to walk with us,including families and children.

The march will start at the Station at 11.30 am and continue into town arriving around 12.30pm where there will be a rally with speakers.

We hope the whole town will turn out, not only to remember those who demonstrated and died 100 years ago to achieve a living wage, but also to support the fight today to keep our National Health Service at the level we need to serve the people of Llanelli in the present time.

As in 1911 we hope the whole town will turn out in support to fight another injustice, the injustice of losing our A&E and hospital services.
