Furbies are back!
The iconic children’s toy returns for 2012 with a new look and a few new features.
Made by Hasbro it is animatronic like the classic model but with new LCD eyes which show a range of emotions that the old ones could never do.
Just like many toys on the market it will recognise music and dance along.
Full of touch and motion sensors you interact with it buy stroking it, shaking it, turning it upside-down or pulling its tail. All of these interactions shape its reactions and personality as you play with it letting it evolve and change.
The user can feed it either by directly touching its mouth or with a free Apple app. This same app downloaded for free can also translate its Furbish into English letting you understand it and react.
It will also pick up English phrases over time as it grows up.
As it does not have an on-off switch the only way to give you some peace is to leave it alone for long enough for it to go to sleep. In this mode it will only wake when physically interacted with. It will not even forget its personality when the batteries are removed as it is stored in an internal memory. Because of this the makers have dubbed it a “Living Toy”
Due for an autumn release in America it will be available in a range of 10 colours and take four AA batteries.
