The Llanelli Multicultural Network (LMCN) has recently been awarded funding from the EU Lifelong Learning Programme to be a partner in a project involving partners from Switzerland, Poland Italy and UK (Wales).

The Project is focused on the story of Pinocchio and other folklore and stories, and is aimed predominately, but not exclusively at people over 50. This Project runs for 2 years and will involve 3 main areas of activities.

1. The setting up and running of an ‘e-pen pal’ scheme. The scheme will link participants from all 4 partner countries who will be able to write each other (in English) to share experiences about their lives and life in their home countries.

2. Running local activities that look at the Pinocchio story as well as other folklore. This will involve working with other groups for example youth groups and performing arts groups.

3. Exchange Visits. Each of 4 partners will undertake a visit to the other partners and will be part of a series of workshops and activities in the other countries. The cost of the exchange trips- travel, accommodation and meals, and the cost of the workshops and activities are all covered by the grant.
