20 new jobs for Upper Tumble

Around 20 jobs are being created at a new state-of-the-art nursing care home near Llanelli. Up to 50 more could follow as the facility grows.

Positions at Gwalia Mynydd Mawr, Upper Tumble, will include nurses, care assistants and night care assistants. Non-care roles will include a services manager, business administrator, handyperson, cook and domestic/kitchen assistant.

The home, for up to 67 people, is being built on land behind Mynydd Mawr Hospital.

It will specialise in dementia care and will be run by Swansea-based social care and housing provider Grwp Gwalia. When complete, it will comprise five clusters of 13 en-suite rooms.

A recruitment and information event is being held by Gwalia in Tumble Hall on Thursday, September 27, from noon-4pm. All those seeking information about the jobs or services are welcome.

Gwalia workforce director Sophie Ray said: “Gwalia Mynydd Mawr will open early in 2013 and will initially create around 20 jobs, with up to a further 50 to follow as more of the clusters open.

“The ethos of Gwalia Mynydd Mawr will be founded on respect for individuality; we recognise that each person will have their own particular needs and preferences and we will take the time to get to know each resident

“For example, knowing what time a person likes to get up and go to bed, when they like to eat their meals and what their hobbies and interests are will help us to tailor our services to each person.

“With this in mind, we want to recruit team members who share these values and by holding an event in Tumble Hall we hope to encourage applications from the local community. I’d encourage anyone who is interested in working for us or wants to know more about the care we will be providing to come along and chat to us.”
