All aboard! Stagecoach is starting up again
It will be a case of âcue lights, cue music, cue actionâ for Carmarthenâs leading theatre arts school this weekend (September 22).
Stagecoach Theatre Arts Carmarthen is starting a new term â and the race is onto secure places at the popular group.
âDemand is always high for places at the school, so this really is the last chance for some youngsters to climb on board at Stagecoach for this term, â said the school principal Liane Davies.
âWe put the accent firmly on quality teaching here at Stagecoach and we limit class numbers to 15 pupils per class.
âThat philosophy of making sure that the quality of teaching is at the highest level does, of course, mean that we cannot always accommodate everyone.
âBut we have been doing our best to expand our services and that is why we are continuing our popular afternoon classes at Stagecoach Carmarthen.
âThe classes are for the six to 18-year-olds age group and run from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. We already have morning classes between 10am and 1pm.
âWe started these classes last term and we found that they opened the door for some pupils who have other interests. For example, those who do swimming or rugby or football on Saturday mornings, are able to attend Stagecoach in the afternoon.
âThe pupils play a major part in the success of Stagecoach Carmarthen and we want to do all we can to accommodate them.â
For âearly stagesâ pupils from four to six, there are Saturday classes from 9.30 – 11 and 12.15 – 13.45. The âearly stagesâ classes take on the three musical theatre disciplines of singing, dancing and drama, with the accent firmly on having fun.
Stagecoach Theatre Arts Carmarthen has its base at the Model Church in Wales School.
The school opened in May 2009 and became an instant success. The school now attracts students from the three counties of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.
In recent years, Stagecoach Theatre Arts Carmarthen has staged the musicals Billy Elliot, Oliver and Annie.
Principal Liane added: âOur aim is always to nurture and develop four to 18-year-olds to fulfil their potential through dance, drama and singing.â
