To celebrate rural health week, Llanelli based business Wellbeing Regeneration are launching their Rural Health & Wellness Project with an open morning at Cwm Aur Residential Home in Llanybydder.
There will be a number of free activities to promote good health including, taster sessions in complimentary therapies and chair based exercises, a quiz, sing-a-long, talk on Pembrokeshire Coastal Path Walk, various stalls and free tea and coffee.
Founded four years ago, Wellbeing Regeneration has established very wide networks in local communities and with other agencies. More than 12,000 different people throughout Carmarthenshire have accessed its community services and the organisation already has a regular customer base of more than 6,000 across the county.
The organisation applies a holistic approach to improving communities’ wellbeing by running a wide variety of programmes supporting people to enjoy and improve their lives and has been identified by Welsh Government research as unique in Wales – it is the only social enterprise delivering community health treatments.
They have received funding from RDP Sir Gâr’s Rural Community Inclusion to recruit a Community Health and Wellness Officer who will increase access to basic health and wellbeing services to help vulnerable adults in the Llanybydder and Pumsaint region maintain their independence and improve their quality of life. Rural Community Inclusion is funded by the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013 which is funded by Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
Gill Webber, Executive Director of Wellbeing Regeneration, says: “The project aims to improve health and wellness in the north of the county (Lampeter, Llanybydder, Cynwyl Caeo) and anyone can join or refer themselves to the activities and access the services.
“The objective is to improve quality of life, ensure people are included in rural communities and to help regenerate the area. The focus will be on supporting people to become more active and to feel happier, healthier, fitter and included.
“The new officer will be responsible for marketing the Rural Health & Wellness Project, recruiting volunteers, overall project delivery and looking at future development.”
Come along on Monday September 24, 9.30am-1.30pm to Cwm Aur Residential Home, Heol y Dderi, Llanybydder or find out more about the Rural Health Project by calling 01554 744896 or visiting www.wellbeingregeneration.org.uk
