Pontyates Fire Station is hosting an action-packed open day to celebrate its 50th anniversary, with many past and present fire fighters expected to attend.
The event will be held on Saturday 29th September 2012 from 13:00 – 16:00 hrs. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is encouraging people to join local firefighters at the station to enjoy a whole host of games, activities and refreshments.
There will be various different fire engines to see including the Aerial Rescue Pump and play fire engine. There will be various demonstrations to see, including a chip pan fire. Stalls selling merchandise such as Blaze Bear Toys and Children’s Fire Helmets will also be available.
Local firefighters and community safety staff will be on hand to chat to visitors about the fire and rescue service and its work in helping to keep communities safe from fire.
There is no entry fee for the open day and all proceeds from the day will be donated to The Firefighters Charity, which is the UK ’s leading provider of services that enhance quality of life for serving and retired firefighters and their families.
