National figures released by the ACPO Burglary Working Group are a cause for celebration in Dyfed-Powys Police as they demonstrate that the area is the safest in the country.
Dyfed Powys once again has the lowest volume of domestic burglary per 1000 households, and therefore the lowest number of burglary victims. The picture nationally is that the current national volume is 10.352 offences per 1000 households, a year on year reduction of 6.5%
Of the burglaries that do occur we have the highest detection rate of 39%, up 6.9% compared to last year, and the national average is now 19.8%
Research conducted into customer satisfaction levels in relation to Domestic Burglary show that Dyfed Powys Police also has the highest public satisfaction figures of all forces in England and Wales.
DCI Greg Williams, Force lead on Burglary welcomed the announcement and said: “Dyfed-Powys Police has welcomed these excellent figures which again show that the counties of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Powys are the safest in the country.
“They are down to the excellent work conducted by the officers and staff of Dyfed-Powys Police and other partner agencies who work along side the police in the Community Safety Partnerships.
“Excellent figures that show the lowest number of burglary victims, highest detection rates and highest satisfaction levels also rely on members of the public in our communities taking on board basic crime prevention advice and implementing it around their properties thus keeping them safe. It is also important that our communities report to us any suspicious behaviour or persons in their towns and villages.
“Burglary is an invasion of each and everyone’s privacy and can on occasion ruin householders’ lives. Burglars should know that if they commit crimes in Dyfed-Powys they will be caught.”
Anyone who needs to report any suspicious behaviour or persons in their area should call the police on 101. But you should call 999 for any emergency involving an intruder.
